The Stories We Could Tell

Mendocino, CA

Our trip got off to a bit of a rough start with a crazy, white-knuckle drive from Redwood National Park. 15 mph hairpin turns for 22 miles are decidedly not cool when you tow a trailer. Hikers and bikers along the single lane roads made it feel like we were playing “Frogger.” If we didn’t lose one of our side mirrors or run over a biker, we were sure to lose our minds.

We finally made it, only a few gray hairs to show for the chaotic drive. The fun part of the visit began in Fort Bragg, just North of Mendocino. Our campground was situated on a bluff overlooking the ocean. Lucky for us, our arrival seemed to coincide with the sun’s first summer appearance in California! After spending some time in Canada and the northwest, we were ready for some sun.

We spent the day exploring Mendocino – an adorable oceanfront town. The coast in Northern CA is simply beautiful… we hadn’t realized how much we missed the ocean!
