The Stories We Could Tell

Horseback Riding, Bozeman Style

The rodeo certainly put us in the cowboy mood. We needed to satisfy our rancher craving with a solid horseback ride. We headed to a ranch in Big Sky to embark on a four-hour ride. James hopped on the back of Chief and I got to ride Tom Tom, two beautiful quarter horses. Our adorable guide, Jake, even had an authentic Southern accent to seal the deal. Our tour started off very wet! The sky opened up and poured soaking us through. We were crossing our fingers that there wouldn’t be hail or lightening. But as we progressed up the beautiful mountain, the sun broke through the clouds. We even saw a pair of deer along the way. Jake took us to a beautiful viewpoint that gave us a clear look at the entire valley below. It was breathtaking! We passed by huge mountains of granite that had piled up after a series of earthquakes hit the area. Jake let us take the horses up to a trot, then before we knew it we were back at the barn.

Our timing was perfect… as we drove away from the ranch it began to hail!
